  • Re: Beolab 5 Subwoofer shutdown....Help!

I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to strip these modules in the future and they will find some replaceable off the shelf components. The main problem is that of diagnoses, custom i.c.'s and recalibration. However the same problems appear with early 80's electronics and even earlier B&O. For instance, how many restorers today

You know the original piece should still be in there somewhere. Instruct your tech. friend to remove the switch panel and look between panel and logic board, and all around that area. Could have also slipped under the main PCB, arm assembly etc.. Also make sure you take a copy of the manual (preferably printed) with the record player!

Not sure how to prevent the same thing happening again, it might be worth laminating the ink to make things last longer. I have not done this myself, just to see how long things last. However the rate I am using my Beomaster at the moment it will be 20 years

  • Re: Beogram 4000 too hot?

If you are not sure of it's history then it will almost certainly need a service. Lots of little things could add up and cause the problems you describe. Bare in mind while your cartridge looks A1 the suspension could be on it's way out which may give many of these symptoms. Also have you checked the tone arm weight with scales? Does the tone
