When you say "enhance" I think what you are actually saying is "modify" - there are plugins that will modify loudness, and frequency response and will apply compression or audio "exciters" to make the resultant

Don't know anything about Beomedia but I'm particularly impressed with Win 7 - if your machine is running XP or Vista, and is capable of running Win7 I would definitely upgrade.
