  • Re: Which B&O receiver offers

If you want RCA connectors, you need the Beomaster 5500 . This comes in either a brushed metal finish or white. It has a full set of both DIN and RCA connectors - I use one for this very reason as it allows full remote control of my B&O sources via DIN and lots of auxillary connections as well. You can use it with an MCL2 link system so it is quite

  • Re: Beovox S55s cable

It needs a 2 pin socket - the S45 had a captive lead.

  • Re: Beogram 5500 mmc2 problem

Axel can certainly rebuild it - he did one of mine which had a snapped cantilever - I think soundsmith can as well though I don't now the comparative costs.

  • Re: How much "overpriced Phillips" is inside B&O ?

I agree with the sentiments here. B&O is on the whole made of high quality materials and will last well. Even the dreaded red capacitors of the 70s were good quality at the time and it was a surprise when they started to leak. Of course B&O use components from other firms, as do everyone else. B&O used to make almost everything - even the

  • Re: What remote control do I need for a MX4002?

I agree though a Beo5 would be another option if you want a new toy for the Avant. Useful if you use satellite and have an audio system as well though it does take a little getting used to. The Beolink 1000 is excellent and is also child proof! Some functions will need learning though and if you have a linked VCR to the 4002 some of the controls may

  • Re: Beovision 10-40 sound

In my view, no. The sound for the thinness of the set is admirable but is not a patch on the bigger sets. It is very clear - I would certainly consider having a listen for yourself at a dealer - I would try it with and without a BL11 which seems specifically designed to deal with the shortcomings. The picture is excellent though.

  • Re: S45 recabbed into S55

The grilles clip on the outside which will be included in the gross volume - they are a fair way from the fronts - much more so than the S45-2 and this will add quite a bit to the gross volume. I have pulled several of these speakers apart and the finish inside of the later speakers always disappointed me. The insides of the early Uniphase speakers

  • Re: 220V or 240V?

I don't think it makes a lot of difference! I would favour 240 but I have never had a problem and the UK supply is probably worse! Makes expensive power cables even more farcical really!

  • Re: Make your own BeoLab Speakers!!!!!

The 9300 and Ouverture are much the same animal - with the 9300 having a passive amplifier built in. The CD on the 9500 would be my choice too using the TDA 1541 DAC. I confess to not being that impressed with the passive amplifiers in the 9000 type Beocenters and the Beolink passive. If you can find them, a Beolab 200 is the way to go. Or a Beomaster

  • Re: CD4 Demodulator

They will be fine in stereo - it is the rear channels that suffer. The CD4 record essentially encodes the rear channels at a much higher frequency and this is then decoded later. A heavy cartridge simply flattens these very high frequencies. The big advantage for the rest of us is that lots of work was done to reduce this effect and make the vinyl better
