If by 9000 you mean a Beocenter 9000? Then the answer should be no as long as it is connected to the Phono input. If it is a Beosound 9000? Then yes you will need a Pre Amp. Craig

After readig this thread I need some eye bleach. Worst part is, I bet some of those setups are very very expensive compared to B&O, others not so much. Craig

Hello Magnus, and welcome to Beoworld. You will prbably find that the BC2300 needs the options setting. On your Beo4, hold down the LIST button and the OFF (red spot) button at the same time. You chould see ADD? on the display. Using the up\down, tyhen GO select OPTION?. Then using up\down again select A.OPT. Then press 1, you should see the stand by
