I have a 4002 already. Next on my list is the remote for the Beomaster then I will get the Beocord 5000. Not sure what speakers I should ultimately use. At the moment using a pair of Beovox S75's. I have a pair of Beovox 5700's which is of the same era I think but I'm not sure the amp is powerful enough for

I would agree with both of your diagnoses. The motor probably needs stripping down and cleaning but with probably free a little with use. The stylus is probably worn - you don't say which one you are using - an SP12 would be the best you can get. Axel can retip yours if you wanted and does an excellent job.

Sounds and looks like a successful business transaction for you Beautiful piece of kit.
Thanks Mika! Must be the most best sounding B&O I've heard yet....even better than my BM4400....I'm very chuffed!
Your 4400 must be in serious need of a capacitor kit

Very true and has a better pre-amp than the 5500 as well as a real pre-amp out (the 5500 is attenuated power amp out - cheapskates!) but the 5500 uses the Beolink 1000 codes which is a big advantage.

The Bolab 5000 does this as well but I think is a bit esoteric! Picture of the Din connectors of the 5500

Interesting remote ! It actually uses Beolink 1000 codes so will work all the modern equipment - to a degree!
-
Actually no - the CD5500 had the best motor - a slightly less well specified one was fitted to the late 5500, 6500 and 7000. Whether you can tell the difference is unlikely, but in principle, the first of the CD5500s are the best!
