That is great! Downloaded! What I would really like is the ability to control the rest of my system from my Beolink PC2 though. It doesn't seem to work though every now and then, I do get sound when it is switched on in another room.

Yes - the same as the Beomaster 2200.

There was considerable discussion about this as it was a popular section and it was felt that opening it up to other older systems was the way forward. Questions are welcome both in the General Forum as well as the vintage area.

Interesting set! It is actually almost a Philips, being made in a Philips factory and uses the Philips architecture. The prices of LX sets are now so cheap that despite the admirable desire not to see a B&O set go to the skip, this one may be worth swapping for a real B&O LX which would at the very least have better sound. I would want to hear them both before jumping. The amplifiers in the Beolab 4 are a little compromised in design compared for instance to those in the Beolab 3. I rather like the Mk1 Beolab 4000 so will be interested to hear the differences, if any! A nice pair of Mk1s could be a very good second hand buy!

Volume synchronisation was introduced in April 2004. It only of use in non B&O set ups as the B&O ones control volume via Powerlink. If you have a non B&O set up and wish to use this facility, your Beolab 5s need S/W 2.5 or higher. This was introduced at S/N 17772145. The cable is a stereo mini jack cable and shouldn't be anything special

Now I had you down as a New Zealander - clearly not resident though!
