• Re: Alternative for Kaleidescape

Aside from several points on that comparison being false, it doesn't mention the inferior service, less elegant interface, and that it's not that tremendous a savings by the time you make a serious investment. A pretender to the throne.

  • Re: BV7 -40" vs BV10-40" - Which to choose

Might be worth noting that the panel is not nearly as big a factor as the video processor is. The 120hz panel w/ a BeoSystem 3 looks better than the 240hz panel without one. Additionally, when the 240hz panel is matched with the BeoSystem 3, there won't be that significant a difference, as Moxxey has mentioned.

  • Re: settop box for Apple TV with atvflash

I'm not sure you've thought through your list of requirements versus the capabilities of the AppleTV w/ ATFlash. You say you don't need to stream from NAS, but you also want to watch movies. Even the largest AppleTV hard drive would fill up quickly. I have about 20 movies and a few seasons of TV shows and I'm over 200GB. Far more than

Personally I don't understand the hype around the Tvix player .... Hacked Apple TV or if budget allows the Mac Mini gives you so much more.
Why can't you understand the hype? No connectivity problems. HDMI - HDMI, the cables are available everywhere. Trow in any video

Not off the top of my head, but they're pretty long. Much longer than most of the other brands like Xantech, Niles, Speakercraft, etc. I'm going to guess 3 meters or more.

The B&O piece is standard, but many brands make IR Emitters and they can also be extended with Cat5 or other cabling.

If you mean "is there a box that can hold my digital media?" the answer is Yes. There are many alternatives. If you mean "is there an alternative that provides anything close to the performance and ease of use of the Kaleidescape at any price-point?" the answer is No. There is nothing on the market quite like it. Out of the many

Do so at your own risk! The AppleRemote profile in the PUC will still run it fine, but it's a pain in the ass to work. You have to put media on it with an FTP loader and since there's no syncing operation (the media's either there or it's not, it can't stream from a Mac if the AppleTV runs out of room) you have to attache a HD to

I would be very interested to see the picture next to the Samsung TV that uses the same panel. This isn't a critisism or a complaint about price, I just think it would be interesting to see if B&O's DSP is really that much better than anyone elses and is equally true of the
