  • Re: The Futurist: Why You Should Buy Middle-End Products

Taking Dr Bose as a commentator on this is particularly interesting as a quick trawl arounf hi-fi forums will find Bose get more accusations of selling low/average products at a premium price than all other manufacturers put together so it is odd that he is advocating looking only at the listening experience and implying that his company is at the forefront

  • Re: B&O and 'bling'

Where I was coming from with the comment was that B&O and 'Bling' are usually not seen together at all, so the idea of some bright yeallow pimped-up speakers witrh B&O down the side has a certain macabre fascination. With B&O the branding is usually so understated you either need to look closely or know your design and/or hi-fi to

  • Re: Um..upgrade....i think not

I saw these a few days ago. There is a certain fascination about the collision of B&O and Bling, a bit like being unable to avert your gaze when you see a car crash about to happen. Despite everything I would imagine they sound OK, and if the person buying them has then stripped back and professinally finished they may well have a decent (if non

  • Re: Beocenter 2000 tape deck belts

Kev Apologies for the delay, I went on holiday then it slipped my mind. I have just dug out the unit. The belt is not only still present it appears to be intact, it had just been displaced from the pulleys, I am guessing it must be in pretty poor condition for that to have happened but you may be able to use it as a template. It looks like it may be

  • Re: Beocom Voip

If I have read it correctly this is some kind of adapter that plugs a PSTN phone into a PC. What I would be really uinterested in is a box that lets me plug in a normal phone in and make VOIP calls without needing to go via the PC. Do such things exist? Simon

Peter I am a forum mod too, so I know how difficult it can be to get the balance right. On this occasion I think you got it absolutely right. Simon

  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

I listened to my vinyl copy for the first time in a very long time last month. It was in the loft for 10 years as I didn't have a decent turntable 'til my B&O collection got underway ealier this year. I had forgotten how good it was! Simon Craig: The Final Cut by Pink Floyd. On Vinyl of course My favorite track is The Gunners Dream. Just

I agree that nothing compares with your favourite version of a piece of music. This version (Christopher Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music) was one of the first CDs I ever bought and still one of my favourites. My father had bought it on vinyl a few years beforehand. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handel-Messiah-Georg-Friederich/dp/B000004CXU/ref=sr_1_1

  • Re: Beogram 1800 arm returns without playing LP

It sounds like it could be a fairly simple adjustment. One possibility is that the tracking force is set too low or it may be the anti-skating control needs adjustment. Have you checked the tip on the stylus is still present and correct? If you upgrade you membership there is a .pdf service manual for download which will talk you through the routine

  • Re: Beogram 1800 sounding a bit distorted

I had a similar problem with a cartridge I had retrieved from a defunct Beocenter. After examining it carefully under a microscope it turned out to need nothing more than a good clean. You can buy a pocket microscope with a battery-powered light via Ebay for around a fiver and it's an almost essential investment if you have older Beogram(s). Simon
