I have never found the RDS function to work reliably. I live out in the country ( Cambridgeshire Fens) and we are lucky to get a strong enough signal for acceptable stereo never mind RDS! I didn't know there were 20 stations to preset!! I really must get a decent external aerial. My roof mounted TV aerial is over 2 metres long and the signal still

You will have to be more specific. Does it not open at all, does it open part way, is it sluggish and grind to a halt, does it open then stop with a sharp stop as if it has run into something?

As you will be operating with a separate pre amp you will probably not need pins 6 and 7 anyway as your cables are unlikely to support datalink. The Beogram 3300 and the Beocenter 2500 are both datalink compatible but you will need the correct cables.
