The Beomaster 3000 has two Phono inputs. One has a built-in RIAA preamplifier (the other hasn't). I suggest you try the other input. Martin

Another thing is that not all link cables are equally good. Some cables will introduce a background buzzing from the speaker. Often, the amplifier (which works at full volume all the time) will also produce a buzz if no signal cable is attached. It's a SM20, a quite rare system cabinet for the Beosystem 2000/3000. And that's a VERY nice price for a rare piece like this. Panels can be fitted either way (grey or white). Martin

My money would be on a broken lead to the DIN socket board. Martin

The Beocenter 7700 has a general grounding problem that could be the cause of the hum/buzz. If the Beocenter stops buzzing when you open the right side section up to service position, the diagnose is complete and the cure here: The cassette section is held by three screws, two at the rear corners and one towards the front.
