The 400* series of tangential turntables are far superior than the later ones. As already mentioned , I would also expect a really good condition cartridge (MMC20EN or preferrably MMC20CL) to be included at the asking price & even then I would consider it to be slightly overpriced. $350 - $400 would be nearer the max if in good condition.
Thanks for looking for me! That does look about right. Oh and in reply to Medogsfat, I do have the CD5500 and it doesn't have a captive output cable. The Beocord and Beogram do, but the cd player does not. Thanks!
Well we live & learn Chris.

I thought the CD5500 had a captive output cable. Is it in fact a CD50 you have? I know they came with outputs for either DIN or phono/RCA so the cables were completely detachable. You can use any fully wired 7 pin DIN cable for this, the problems only start with Beogram record decks which have to be shielded to ground to prevent humming. Chris.

Nice - it's always a huge relief when it turns out to be nothing more than a bit of lubrication. Chris.

Thank you Cleve on behalf of the whole moderating team for your kind comments It is people like yourself (of which there are many on here) which make the running of Beoworld such an immense & continuing pleasure. Chris.

I'm with Lee on this one - a real bargain. If you were located anywhere near me I'd be outside your door right now witrh the seats folded flat in my estate car & 300 Euro's in my hand! Have a Happy Christmas yourself Leslie Chris.

Hi djebb & welcome to Beoworld, what components, cables & speakers do you have? The components will all have captive leads which simply plug directly into the corresponding 7 pin DIN plugs at the back of the Beomaster tuner/amp, the sockets are marked up as "phono" for turntables, "CD" for CD player & cassettte player

Good idea - I would personally have it retipped up to at least the standard of a MMC20EN (eliptical nude) stylus. Shouldn't cost much more and will sound better & last longer as the tracking weight can be lowered to 1.2g Chris.

The Mk 1 & 2 Beolink 1000's were the early versions - it is the Mk3's & onwards which lack the reset button. The Beomaster 5500 has an inbuilt RIAA pre-amp so you want a record deck which lacks this. The Beogram 5000 radial tracking deck & its derivatives (2000 & 1800 etc...) will stack & work perfectly well & will match

I think the referrence is to the Beolink Passive or MCL2P ?
