Actually the amplifier in the 5500 etc series of amplifiers is really not bad at all. I have powered my M100s with them and they have no problem giving a good performance. They are a development of the amplifier from the Beocenter 7000 and share the good general behaviour. the protection circuit is a little sensitive to very low loads but sonically

As usual, an exceptional site. Wonderful write ups courtesy of Tim and beautifully photographed and laid out by Nick. A superb resource for anyone with an interest in B&O.

Most people knock B&O without hearing it. Because the name starts with a B , they associate it with Bose. B&O do have a different attitude to many other makes - the products are designed with ease of use in mind as well as design. They are made to fit into a home rather than dictate. The sound quality is good - you can get similar sound for

It rather depends on your taste. I think the 7-40 is the best set but would not have one because I don't like the design. The BV10 is the best looking, but the sound is not in the same league. The 8-40 is midway between them in sound but I don't like the shelf.

I have spoken to Hi-Fi journalists about this and they are acutely embarrassed by having to suck up to the cable companies - at least in the cases of the ones I know. Try auditioning them double blind ABX with the dealer and see if

If it is the power supply (and it could well be - they are rubbish!) then you can get a suitable one at maplins. My screen has also broken but in this case it seems to be the backlight - you can see it is working but only by shining a light at it!! You would get much more for it if it is working - and take a non flash photo so that you can see the good

Agreed. The Beogram 6500 has the RIAA built in the Beogram - means it can be mounted further away. Lee sells external RIAAs if you need one as the Beograms with them built in are sought after and expensive. Interestingly, the datalink will also not work as it uses the opposite pin. Solved by connecting pins 6 and 7.
