The problem is that Video Tape has simply died! Ridiculous of course but like audio tape before it, it is just not marketed. Recodable DVD is obviously more convenient especially when used in conjunction with an HDD. Expect the DVD2 to give you that option.

Obvious upgrade route is beolab 3s, which are excellent, especially with a Beolab 2. Consider wall mounted Beolab 4000s as well though as these would be cheaper and offer similar sound to what you have already. Lee seems to have a good selection of colours. I am planning to get some to go with my AV9000 as floor speakers are not really an option.

I do hope you all have a great time and expect to be regaled with many stories and a superb news article when you return! I am sorry not to be coming as it looks as if you will have quite an experience laid on for you. By the time you get back you should all know far more than me and so I expect lots of erudite answers to queries!

Very big! Therefore less desirable these days so not a huge market. They are good though. Price depends on condition. I would offer £100 and haggle!

The CD drives are originally Philips but are now a separate

soundproof: Without being able to swear on it, I don't think there's been any Philips elements in B&O for ages. To be fair, there is a fair amount of Philips technology used in B&O products - Pixel Plus comes readily to mind, and the first generation DVD drives were Philips. However what soundproof is saying is still valid. B&O use

My fault - I thought the power cable had come loose.- hence the photo!

The straight and easy answer is the Beolab 9s. But go and have a listen and tell us what you think.

If you are playing at what is essentially full volume, and this is what you want, I would suggest you need, as you have identified, a proper Hi-Fi. A Beosound 4 and some big speakers should do. Some second hand Pentas would probably not break the bank and would certainly go loud without distortion. To expect a BS1 to be able to do this is a little unfair
