I need a pair of passive speakers and BeoVox 1 doesn't fit. A pair of CX's would be perfect, but is it safe to buy a pair? They're after all 15-20 years old. Will they sooner or later get foam rot etc.? Can I hear or see if this has happen or about to start?

Any remote except Beo1 will work. The original is Beolink 1000 , but I now use a Beo4 with no problem. You can also use Beolink 5000 , a two way remote (LX 5500 has two way ir control). Beolink 7000 will also work, but it would be overkill unless you don't also have a two way BeoCenter. I believe they all except 7000 is still available as new from
