89p did seem a bit pricey - it should be nearer 29p in inflationary terms! Not had a Mars bar for some time though!! I don't think that investing in old hi-fi makes much money! The new equipment clearly makes money for the re-sellers but pre Beolink 1000 is almost worthless. Only the very best items are worth having - 8000, 4400 and Beolab 5000

Confess to nicking the prices from Beocentral! I was looking at the new pictures - very nice they are too! My father always used to compare prices with Mars bars. When I was small, a mars bar cost 4d (old pence for the youngsters amongst us!) Nicely wrapped it was as well though the size was slightly smaller than some later incarnations of the standard

The thread about Beomasters set me thinking about the relative prices of a radio with an amplifier during the years B&O have been selling in the UK. I have not added speakers, though this could allow comparison with today's systems if wanted! 1968 Beomaster 900M would cost £1075.48 in today's money as a start. I thought the most expensive

I use a Dock and then you can use the Apple remote to work the iPod. Don't tell anyone but I use mine with my Beolab 5000 system when I cannot be bothered to clean the records. I record at a high bit rate so the sound is really not too bad at all!

I am sure Martin is correct - I agree that it looks like a 2 but it is supposed to be a ? - it just doesn't look like it!! It can be the solder or it can be the motor needs a little attention. These are superb CD players and the faults are well known to repairers because there are relatively few and always the same ones! These machines were actually

The write up of the 1700 on Beocentral will be by Tim - I do very few - mainly speakers or some of the more modern equipment. I do however agree completely with him in this case - the 1700 is simply superb and very good value.
-
Lovely looking set up. I think the BG1700 is particularly nice - very under rated.
-
Because Tim doesn't like them!! He hates the new era of module replacement as opposed to proper repairs. There are some reviews - the BV10 was one of mine as you can tell by the less expert description!

I too have tested most of the B&O range with both speakers and indeed the B&O power testing kit. This is slightly unfair as it presents a 4 ohm load, which most newer amplifiers seem to dislike , but it did offer some interesting insights. The Beomaster 7000 got to about 50W before the protection circuit switched it off. Not at full volume

Well I have one and like it a lot. However any DVD player will also play CDs and the BC2 cannot be regarded as a cheap solution! Clearly if she is using a Philips TV, one might suggest a Philips DVD player as there will no doubt be a single remote that will work both. If she wants a BC2, get the later type with the audio feedback from the keys - without
