There could be all sorts of reasons why one will sound better than another. It is likely that the suspensions will be in different condition. The Effective Tip Mass of the S will be a little higher but still very low so I wouldn't worry about the differential in record wear! Use the one you like the sound of more!

I got it down to 3Mb but was unhappy with the detail. The scanner is very basic! It was only £80 for an A3 scanner!

Not sure! I'll have a look around but can't promise!

The most important thing to do with speakers is to listen to them yourself. We all have opinions, as can be seen above. I think the Beolab 4000s are the most under rated speaker in the range and think they are superb. Still working out the intricacies of my new scanner! Seriously I would have liked to go but as a GP, it is tricky to get away some times. Lee and Ed are there and I am sure will be far more capable

I tend to encode at 320kbps now but quite a bit was at 160kbps. I have 11184 tracks on at present. I have it on a 500Gb internal drive as well as on DVD and a portable HDD. 75.82 Gb, which as you know is more than an 80Gb iPod can handle! Have decided to collect music now rather than equipment! The challenge is to set the iPod to shuffle and then identify

Not sure Ouvertures had the PIN code feature. I believe some early 3000s didn't have it either. But not having owned one of these, I wouldn't take my word as gospel!
