Are these not the ones we have seen before - called the Rocket or something similar. The nature of these is that they will be appalling - a metal tube with car speakers in is always going to be a compromise and, without tailored amplifiers, likely to have all sorts of nasty resonances and no bass.
-
Not really! Tim has fixed it recently but it is misbehaving again. I use the CD5500 and CDX in preference anyway so it will wait! But thank you for the offer!
-
The CDX was completely Philips made in Holland. Lovely CD player though I do think the warmth is probably distortion! Very nice though! The CD50 is a 16 bit machine and I don't think it is as warm as the CDX. It does sound quite similar though. The CD5500 is my favourite though - wonderful detail and I think it has better bass than the other two

Probably is the answer - you would notice that they become brighter - age dulls them! However do you like the way they sound now? If you do, I would leave alone - you might not like them as much with new capacitors!
-
Agree. What we need to remember is what we are talking about is very old electronic equipment. This is essentially worthless - go to a car boot sale and you will find plenty of 70s and 80s electronics going for the price of a sandwich. B&O has the advantage of build quality and rarity and a dedicated bunch of idiots who collect it! None the less
-
Same advice really - the commonest fault in these splendid machines is dry solder joints and a fault where the circuit boards are joined by a rivet. Needs someone with a soldering iron and a meter to have a little look. B&O repair departments used to have a memo about this. The laser itself is bullet proof!

The 5000 system is a good one - worth getting the Beocord working as the 5000 is excellent. Probably needs new belts now. The internal components are also good and can be got at very easily! The CD50 is the most disorganised mind you as they all seem different! It does have a very high quality DAC in it and in common with the first of the line of B&O
-
If size is an issue, consider the Beovision 3 which was much the same thing but quite a bit more compact (in some directions!) Also cheaper. I would still go for a 32" though - remember that a 32" widescreen TV is still not as tall in the screen as a 28" 4:3 set like an MX6000. You are always taking a risk buying an old TV though most

Hi. The Beogram problem is a common one - I have summarised an excellent thread and posted it in this FAQ . The Beomaster problem is also quite common and probably needs the mechanism cleaning. Taking these apart is tricky - or at least putting them back together is! How brave are you!!

The 100Hz will be newer - I have a 32 100Hz Avant and am very pleased with the picture.
