Let's be fair to B&O, they created a brilliant analog home A/V link system in the early 80s, with sufficient resiliency to actually be surprising me even today. In all likelihood, Masterlink has saved B&O, as it has tied customers to B&O solutions and ensured future sales once an installation's in place. BUT - B&O has probably

As mentioned, you'll need a sub/subwoofer in addition - but I'm a little skeptical of electrostat's for film sound. They're great speakers, but have a very narrow ideal listening area, not much fun sitting outside the sweetspot. Still, won't knock their solution until I've tried it. Sometimes get the impression we're discussing religion here, and not A/V! The Loewe sets are great lookers, and they have (of course) reached for their own design. Loewe is a serious competitor to B&O because they don't have the legacy shackle of ML to defend, which means they can leap straight to the next generation of interlink, which

He-he. I don't like the name - should be More of This?; more of the Same makes me sound boring, eh?

Alex, I ask, will it be available in Gold??? It must be!!!

LOEWE has a very ambitious expansion plan, with some solid long term funding, assisting them through the economic downturn. Their brand platform makes sense, accommodates all stages from Entry to Reference level. They wooed the person responsible for B&O's B1 stores and gave him the task of heading their Gallery-Strategy, where they'll create

Lintronic sells solutions, as does irTrans, which has a B&O to non-B&O converter that is quite inexpensive. Both have solutions that translate the non-standard B&O IR frequency to the universally used frequencies.

Well, they've recently removed the distinction between A-shares and B-shares (where the A-shares were non-tradeable), they're reaching out for new funding, and will have to have shareholder approval for a number of the measures they're contemplating, I should think. Given the state of the world economy, being a luxury brand is difficult

Re. "workaround solution" -- Not really. It's what you're supposed to do if you connect to an external non-B&O source. No way to escape that. No matter what kind of setup you have, you would have to set a working level for the speakers, relative to the output level of your source, if you're using the line-INs.

I don't see a problem here, with what the threadstarter wishes to do, regardless of the generation of the BL5s? Line in to the speakers will accept a variety of external sources - B&O's only requirement is that the signal level should not be in excess of 2V RMS, if it is higher, a passive attenuator should be used. If you follow my suggestion
