No, it doesn't move to the left at all, only to the right. I'm going to test TR24(25) because I don't see or measure any dry joints in the area or at the connectors. By the way I can't find the PCB layout for my 4002 (the one with the connectors, serial (edited) 054865). What else is there to this motor control? Jacques

Hello, This continues my previous post. Bearing problem solved (in fact I mixed oil and grease!), thank you everyone! So when I move the carriage shaft by hand (by turning the carriage motor with two fingers) so that the carriage moves to the left, the deck wakes up. I can change speeds over. I can lower/lift the arm and it poses no problem at all.

Thanks. The belt is in place and the carriage motor doesn't turn at all (no voltage arrives at it either). There is 5v at IL1 but I can't see any light. Should I see some? Jacques

Right then. When I press Play the platter turns but when I release the button it stops. Nothing else happens. Ah yes if I press play and keep it that way I can select 45 rpm. That's it. Any hints please? Jacques

It's worth a lot! So it's a particular design then. Maybe the platter weight along with the belt tension compensate the play somehow... Odd design! The elasticity of that belt must be very critical. Jacques

My main concern is that the bearing is not held at its bottom. Do I miss something? Adding oil or grease doesn't make any difference. The play just seems excessive. What is wrong then? The lower part of the shaft is allowed to move freely and it shouldn't be so, should it? Jacques

Well then it's not a bit wobbly. I'd say the play is not far from 1mm side to side. The problem seems to reside at the bottom of the bearing, where there's nothing to hold it it seems!
