I would guess possibly a solder problem or a failing capacitor. Either way, the amplifier needs looking at before a catastrophic failure. The fact it recurs so son after switching off makes me think capacitor rather than solder - but it could be either.

I have the highest regard for all Beoworlders who have shown, by their choice of the B&O brand, to be discerning individuals. A little mental athletics should be a bit of fun! I should point out that i am appalling at crosswords! My wife, on the other hand, does the Times crossword - or at least did. She has moved onto the Su Doku - but only the

The 5000/5500/6500/7000 use the traditional B&O architecture. The 3500/4500 use a hybrid chip as did the 9500 and the rest of the audio range. The 150/200 was a separate design. Tim has written a good piece about it on Beocentral .

The explanation is that MCP is common parlance stands for Male Chauvinist Pig. The 7700 panel was the first of the MCP range.

Any more? Or do we have to start writing!

I would get the best one you can. The top of the range is the Avant RF 32 DVD and these go for just under £2000 for the best ones down to about £1500. I have one and it is a total delight. An alternative would be a BV3 which as long as you get the 32" one, uses the same chassis as the Avant but will be much cheaper. Same picture and

Nearly! It goes to a control box called a Beolink Active to which the hockey puck attaches. The speakers attach to the control box. The ML wire can indeed be split. Best of luck.
