Stupid suggestion from me - try another SCART lead. One of my VCRs did something similar and the cable was faulty. Intermittent fault which gave no picture.

I think it is very positive that B&O are asking for opinions and also positive that they are giving flexibility so that people can say what they think, rather than just ticking boxes. Unfortunately, too much democracy can lead to a degree of anarchy!

I would certainly consider coming if it fitted with my work - a Friday is much easier as travelling to the south and back will take some time and I would stay overnight. However if Lee, Chris and Ed are there, it would be a great evening no matter which night!

Yes - but playing with TVs is a dangerous business and best left to a professional. Setting up the tube is also tricky - I would not have the first idea of where to start. Sorry I didn't get to you - bit tied up this week end but it sounds as if you have identified the problem. There is a simple fix which is to short pin 2 and 7 which is all that the new ones do, as Keith has pointed out.
