Component is always an option. I actually find the picture on Sky HD is better with component than it is with HDMI, although the latest Sky HD boxes have no component connections!

Yes, I've heard some of the Steve Winwood mastertapes. Sounded very good but I couldn't compare it to CD. I don't have any particular preference. I love vinyl because of the 'event' it puts into listening to music (as hard as B&O try with their CD players, there's something missing in comparison to getting the record out of it's sleeve, cleaning it

Music is (98% of the time) recorded in stereo, and hence should be played in stereo. Speaker 3 is effectively trying to force the BeoVision to extract information out of the recording which simply isn't there - confused, often 'brittle' sound.

The BeoLab 5 will accept 96 kHz/24 bit signals. Yes there is a high frequency limit on ICE Power amps, but it's far higher than the human ear can effectively reach (way above 20 kHz). I doubt the amps in ATC's offerings will be able to reach that high. Yes the ATCs are good, and the SCM7s I had a few years ago were fantastic, but even the SCM150 or

wonderfulelectric: Well then so I guess you disagree that a good vinyl/mastertape will sound better than a DVD then. Vinyl is technically inferior to DVD and in a lot of ways, even CD. It's more down to the way things are mastered. Vinyl is in general, mastered to -18dBFS or thereabouts. CDs have routinely been mastered by engineers to -12dBFS, and

Closer to D-A-D-A vs. D-A. In reality however, the last form of analogue conversion doesn't matter as the amplifiers are closely matched to the DSP output by the B&O engineers themselves.

Dave: Ummmm yeah - BS9000 is stunning , especially the moving glass door. Theres no question there, different league i think.... but i couldn't afford to buy an 8000 dollar CD player. You know what? If i had BL5's i'd try them with the powerlink!! The delay when pressing volume up and down is irritating! I'm also skeptical that there's

Tape a pillow to the front!

I would talk to your B&O dealer. This isn't something anyone on here could fix without actually seeing to the unit. Either way, if anybody other than a B&O dealer did have a stab at it, they'd void the warranty.
