Hi, Does anyone know how to use the VGA connector on the back of an Avant US, type 8490? I want to connect my Mac to the set and watch movies via iTunes. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, John
I have the same model. Are you asking about the yellow video composite cable and the red/white audio cables?

There is a PUC in this Avant that says "Apple", but we have not yet attempted this application due to the fact that I need to get another emitter. My local source for the emitter is closed until Jan 3rd. Right now we are using the really cool little Apple remote which is very B&O in look!

Peter My Avant was produced in August 2001, and is a Model 8490 with 60hz. The aspect ratio is filling the screen left to right without any distortion, with the top and bottom appearing depending on the widescreen format of the film. We did notice that on the movie “Moonstruck” that the left to right seemed to move inward ever so slightly

No. The only recordings that I make are on the DVR from regular cable listings. I only use the DVD1 and the ATV2 for viewing. Sorry I am not able to help you with your question.

Both sites appear to show the product that I used for the conversion.

IT WORKS! The Apple TV 2 nd Generation (black) works with the Avant! The solution: feed the HDMI through the LinkStyle HD Video Convertor LK-219414. It gives wonderful color and the sound is perfectly synched. I purchased it from Amazon for $53.99 plus shipping. Have fun and enjoy!

I’ve engaged the Borg (Apple TV Black Box) and the assimilation has begun. The ATV2 has a really wonderful design and integrates very well with the B&O Masterlink via the Avant, but with Apple choosing only to provide an HDMI for connections; it has now created problems for connections. We have begun by using an HDMI to Composite scaler model

I finally gave up on the Moxi and switched over to the Motorola DCX3400. The Avant controls it without any issues.

Hello to Everyone, I just set up a new Mortorla Moxi with the Avant. Great picture but I cannot get the IR to work. Has anyone had any success with this DVR?
