  • Any thoughts on refinishing the platter on Beogram 8000

Hello Everyone, I accidently tired cleaning the platter on my Beogram 8000 with alcohol and it removed the finish. Has anyone removed the black plastic ribs that are on the platter before or can they be removed so one could repaint the platter with a clear coat? I haven't been able to find a source for a second hand platter which would have been

  • Beogram 8000 Platter Finish

Hello, I thought I was doing something to cause my Beogram turntable platter no harm by cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol. But the alcohol ended up removing the satin finish on it. Anyone ever done the same thing and tried spraying a finish back on to a platter or found another fix? Or, alternately does anyone have a nice platter for an 8000 that they

  • Re: Beogram 8000 Capacitor Replacement Problem

Hello Martin, Regarding your suggestion to check the cap inside the processor housing. I am pretty sure you mean the one that I installed that is a 47uf and on the sheet you included for the installation is on the "CPU casing." A question about the resoldering of any old solder joints that might be cracked, should I remove the old solder and

Hello Martin, Thanks for the reply. I will check all of the areas you indicated for cracked solders etc. I did replace all the capacitors in the kit you supplied and introduced the new connection as shown. Fuse looks good but I switched it out with a spare from the parts board I have. Sounds like I might have introduced a cracked solder joint based

  • Beogram 8000 Capacitor Replacement Problem

Hello all, I just did a capacitor replacement from Dillen on my Beogram 8000 turntable. When I reassemble the turntable and plugged it in the LEDs on the operating panel lit up but not displaying like it should have. The turntable platter turned but the buttons did not work correctly on the panel. I took the table apart and compared the capacitor replacement

Hi Geoff, Thanks, I was able to work it out of there with your intstructions just fine. I never would have figured that out very easily on my own if at all. One other question for you, do you have a recommendation for lubrication of the threaded screw rail that the tonearm runs on while I have this apart? I have white lithium grease, medium weight automotive

  • Removing Main PCB board from Beogram 8000

Hello Everyone, I am in the process of doing a capacitor replacement on my Beogram 8000 turntable. I have the turntable in the service position and can see the main PCB board with the tabs that must slide to remove the board. Unfortunately it looks like the transformer is in a position to keep the board from sliding past the tabs for removal. Can anyone

Hello and thanks for the feedback from everyone. I see from Martin and few others that it looks like I need new capacitors. From who is that kit available from and is the replacement something that a novice with experience with a soldering gun can handle? Thanks, John

  • Beogram 8000 Turntable Sliding Chassis Arms Don't Slide

Hello All, A while ago I wrote on this forum about needing help with the set down adjustment on my Beogram 8000 turntable. I got a lot of great help with that from this forum and was able to adjust the arm and everything has been fine till a couple of days ago. Now the sliding chassis arms only slide for about 3/4 of an inch when the play button is
