I agree that most of the modern caps are much smaller, but the ones that I was looking at were shorter and fatter. I will still be very interested to see what type of cans you finally install and how well they can be tailored to the limited space. Did you check the condition of the plastic arm that carries the spindle? more often than not, they are badly cracked and that will affect the tape drive performance.
