  • Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

Hi all - I was wondering if anyone had received news on when a post 5.02 update would be forthcoming to address the SKY HD incompatibilities. Has anyone heard anything? I'm also going to push B&O for some form of goodwill as 14 months of BETA testing is unacceptable for a 9k product. What are your thoughts? Best, Mark.

I think the only answer in this case is WMA Lossless if you want an archival quality direct replica of the original CD. With the BS5 system being based on a Windows XP embedded operating system, I believe the opportunity to expand the system with additional codecs is more limited than with the BeoSystem 1, which is essentially a Windows Media PC in

Hi there, It sounds like you want portability of your music collection across multi-vendor products and guaranteed support for the BS5. The BS5 is basically a Windows XP embedded system with the most common codecs installed (a follow on the the BeoMedia if you like), including Microsoft's own propriertary formats which you'll often see start

Hi everyone, Its all about the Codecs. Lossless is always going to be the best - but make sure you do not get stuck down a proprietary route like WMA. The problem there is with the 'W' and even that said company, who live and die by their operating system is moving towards open standards with their playback technology - realizing that they need

It would seem many of the remaining issues all relate to the Sky HD box. I understand from my dealer that most of these fixes are scheduled for the post 5.02 update. I was wondering if any of you have had discussions with either B&O or your dealer about the 14 months of bugs we have all been suffering with one release after another of something

  • Re: Sky HD and BV7 mkIII

Hi all, The best advice is to stay on 3.5 (which was the first release for the mkIII) until the next release. DONT UPGRADE to 5.02. It is known by B&O that there is a specific bug with the BS3 chassis systems with Sky HD boxes and they are having continuing issues. There is no current reported timeline for the next release, but its the one scheduled

I imagine its working well if you dont have a link room setup or a Sky HD box. But thats not the point of B&O - the total home integration is one of the key selling features. Both 4.17 and 4.24 have bugs with SKY HD boxes with a link room, where the sound will come through but no picture. Fundamentally they have problems handshaking and coordinating

This is unbelievable. I only hope its because they have had to shift their software engineering resources onto the BeoSystem 5 - because that is a much more complex product to code for with likely numerous elements of third-party code. Struer really needs to improve its software development processes as having 3 poor releases in a row for the BS3 based

Regardless of format, the industry - B&O included - are very familiar to paying for licenses for audio and video codecs. Take the Beosystem 3 for example. B&O will likely have had to pay numerous third-parties software licenses that make the capability accessible and free to the user - like AAC for example. H.264 and AAC are great examples of
