I would be surprised if this software will give anything more than 2 channel pcm, to get multi channel (5.1 or 7.1) uncompressed pcm requires an hdmi cable because of the amount of sound data coming from the source which would currently be a blu-ray player only or maybe an HD DVD but not sure. Sky HD for sure needs the scart cable, without the scart everying works except on/off. On my sky hd box the IR is stuck at the 3 o'clock poistion over the central led thing. The stb controler is set to Pace Sky + (although I have a BS3 so not sure if the stb list is the same or not on your TV). Cheers Peter

Andy Upscaling is a method of taking a standard definition signal like analog tv or DVD and using a video scaler to match the pixel count of the signal to the physical pixel count of a high def tv, resulting in better detail and color consistency. Upscaling does not really convert standard dvd into true high-definition images, but a good quality one

Peter: You must remember that I am thinking on my feet here, but what about trying to connect the Set Top Box to another input on the Beosystem 3? I know this seems a bit odd, but you could then select that input (name it something else) when in another link room and it should come though in SD and hence you bypass the HDCP protocol via the HDMI lead

Regarding HD tv in a link room, this cant be done at the moment, it is a constraint of hdmi as this signal can only go over an hdmi cable, additionally there are copy protection and cable distance constraints, I dont see what B&O can do about any of those things.

Kevin: I'm fortunate in our house as the whole thing is plaster boarded. The outside walls have a 25mm polystyrene inner and they are fixed to the wall with blobs of adhesive. If I want to lay a cable in I just saw a channel fit the cable put on a bit of plaster and repaper. The difficult bit is getting through the floors though as they are poured

britops: Excellent install, where are the wires? Well thanks for that. The wires are in the wall and then under the floor to the BS3 which is in a cupboard out of the way. This I think is one of the main advantages of the BS3 as most of the cables go to the BS3 so there is not much to hide near the screen making for quite a clean look. Cheers Peter

I like the 7.4 but i doubt it would look right higher than a cabinet. Ive attached a pic (last time I tried this the pic got stretched but the attachment was fine) of my system which has a 7.4 fixed to the wall with a slim wall bracket from the stb-brackets range. Cheers peter

When I play a bluray movie on the playstation selecting the PCM sound track, on the BS3 in the sounds menu it tells me my sound source is multichannel PCM.
