Hey Richard, Thanks for this hint! Unfortunately time is still not on my side but I hope to have some spare time soon, I would love to tackle this problem. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation and hints gentlemen! Indeed I have the piggyback IC installed. Unfortunately my tuner problem is a bit more complicated then just no sound: It does not tune up nor down with the tuner dial, although the frequency counter moves. Then, out of the blue, it starts tuning either all the way op or all the way down the tuning scale

  • BM 8000 CPU: cut traces?

Hi all, First of all, a merry christmas to all of you! And may Santa bring you all a pair of BL5's! I was bored this christmas morning, so I opened up my BM8000, on which the radio does not work anymore after I did the fix introducing new connections on the CPU board (the rest worked fine again though, and I can do without a radio). Having a fresh

  • Re: Help! Which One Do I Keep.

Hi Beaker, Sorry to revive this rather old thread, but did you ever try the modification to the terminal? I'd love to hear as a BGCD50 with terminal seems to be a perfect companion to my BM8000, overcoming its only drawback: no datalink CD compatibility. Only difficult thing will be finding one with remote and PCB though Thanks!

  • Re: Question on rosewood and restoration

Hello all, I finally had some time to go at it with sanding paper and the danish oil. It works very well, I managed to sand out some nasty deep scratches! Unfortunately I had to go pretty deep into the wood to get the scratches out, to a depth at which the reddish color of the wood was gone. I thought the danish oil would restore this color but it didn't
The unit has never been opened. Its the same as it was when it left the factory back in 197X
That is great (beautiful even!), but in that case, I think you should really put in new electrolytics, these can cause the weirdest faults after 40 years of life because they dry out. If it hasn't caused this fault it

I'd say, there is a rumble so something is being amplified, the 3000 is still working in a way. I take it you already replaced all electrolytics? I would take out the multimeter and compare voltages at transistors vs ground between the working and the broken channel, starting at the preamp. Be careful not to short anything! Good luck!

Hi Mormel, Looks very good! I too really like those lamps, do you know what brand, name or type number they are?
