Agree with Lee. The post did ask what these sounded like compared with beolab 3s. Those who have listened to them or who own them have stated that they outperform the 3s by some margin and indeed maybe even 9s. I think this answers the question posed. Once again I find myself having to remind posters that this is a multilingual forum and that humour

Fascinating! I am quite surprised by this though I know that some other items were de-specced simply by missing out wires - datalink in some Beograms comes to mind. None the less, this does seem perverse! As you have all the bits, I suggest you try and let us know what happens! I know the later 2300 had the cut out for the microphone which was not fitted

I would get a Beocentre 8500 as it will match! Will be an amplifier, radio and CD player with a good autoreverse tape player thrown in. I prefer the 9500 myself as it has better programming facilities but eiither are great.

The old classic ones make perfect sense - good prices and superb performance. Have a look at an 8002 though - nice design and better sound than an 8500. Probably cheaper too!

Your amp would seem fine but you will need a RIAA pre-amp. However before getting onto that, why do you want a Beogram? If you have a B&O system, the point of a Beogram is obvious as it matches the system, the input is designed for the low moving iron output and it works by remote control. In a non B&O system, I cannot see the point of a deck

You actually need a 5 pin DIN to 2 RCA and earth connector. You can unscrew pins 6 & 7 on the DIN plug - a good tip from Chris is to tape these pins to the DIN lead so you don't lose them! Have a look here for the correct cable. You need to use the MM setting on the amplifier.

Thanks to Gavin and to the other sponsors of Beoworld. They make a huge difference to the site and I would encourage any member in need of the services they offer to give them a call.

The Gallo speakers that some deem to be air conditioning units look brilliant in any room - and sound wonderful. Very good workmanship, and everything's there for a purpose related to excellent reproduction of sound. Astonishing sound.
Yaddah - will they be appearing

Surely the point about design is that it appeals to different people. These speakers clearly have a very technical look and in the right setting would look spectacular and from the opinions above from people I have great respect for, will no doubt sound brilliant as well. Plenty of people decry the design of the Beolab 5 but most of us would give them
