• Re: Flash your B&O!

One of my perversed hobbies is watching through real estate ads beyond my market, and trying to spot some B&O. This was a nice find: (no, I'm not posting direct links.)

  • Re: beogram 6500 or 7000

The biggest difference is the number printed on the front panel.

  • Re: Beomaster 5500 not always starts into standby - SOLVED?!
I had an old Skymaster CX11 analogue SAT-Receiver with the DIP40 socket and processor in it. I desoldered the old Siemens 8031 SAB from Beomaster and the socket from SAT-Receiver with the Atmel80C52X2 MC processor. I checked the pinout of both processors: it was the SAME !
Yes, they are both descendants
Do your Beomaster 8000 amps run very cool as well?
It does now once I went in there and checked the idle current settings. Before that, the other side smelled like an electric radiator after a while of playing... will replace the trimmers and the caps in the same go sometime later before I actually start using
I have yet to start recapping my 8000, as some might have guessed from lack of update recently! I am not in a hurry to do so as I have found that whenever I have recapped this age of hifi and newer, even with audiphile grade capacitors, I have noticed no difference to speak of!
I haven't started either, but

  • Re: iRobot Roomba Vacuums

Another good feature of Roomba is that it can keep a group of engineers entertained for hours, much like a large format pen plotter! Not very durable, though - we had one in the office (which admittedly is quite messy...) years ago and gave up after the third one broke. I would expect these new models to be improved at the weak points, though. And yes

  • Re: Beolab 2500's as TV or PC Speakers..

It won't work that way since Powerlink doesn't turn the speakers on via audio signal, there is a separate control line for it. Therefore speakers with only a Powerlink input won't have the signal sense circuitry at all. You will need to construct a "fake Powerlink source" to use these speakers with non-B&O sources. I believe
An MCP5500 will work - but only one way. You will be able to control the system but you won't get feedback.
...and it will be extremely annoying, as I recall the MCP won't allow another keypress until the previous one has timed out with "no contact"! Volume control especially will have you throwing
