Nice story. I now have something very close to your original unobtainable dream system in our study! A Beogram 1900, Beomaster 1900 Beocord 1900 and S45-2 Speakers assembled over the last 12 months for a little over £100 via eBay. How times change! It all sounds fantastic though.... Simon

As far as foam rot goes you my have issues with the C30 nd CX100. They have ess bass than some of the other speakers. The S45 may suffer depending on model - ask the seller question for clarification. RL1000's are part of the redline series, I have never heard them but they have a decent reputation. Hopefuly someoe can advise if foam rot may be

There is a thread on here that lists which speakers do or don't suffer from foam rot. Tht is decay in the bass units if we have just bewildered you! Best think to do is post a question here before you pull the trigger. Simon

Alex: Somehow though, I can't quite see a takeover happening. Whilst things clearly haven't gone as well as B&O expected, they're still financially sound... It'a all down to whether the current owners of the shares think they will make more money from a buyout or by hanging onto their shares. If it's the former then a deal is

Welcome to Beoworld! B&O no longer make cartrdges. Brand new cartridges for B&O systems can only be bought from a company called Soundsmith in the USA that makes them by hand, hence they are over £100 each. If you are planning to keep and use the kit it is a sensible investment. You can buy second hand cartridges on eBay but the risk of

Alex: If an american company will takeover they wil exploiting the company and then close it. To be fair there are agressive venture capitalists in many countres these days (the Uk is one of the worst offenders!) , the anti-American slant isn't really necessary. Simon

A takeover doesn't have to be a bad thing, it depends entirely of who is doing the takeover and what they do with the company. I suspect a new owner would either take B&O further upmarket or go the other way and look at B&O as simply a brand that could be used for badge engineering purposes.(Which would be a bad thing!) A hard-nosed corporate

There is nothing better than an old pair of Beovox speakers for cheap warm sound! I was thinking when I saw the Denon advert that you were thinking of spending quite a lot of money compared to a vintage B&O pair! Best thing to do is do an eBay search on Beovox (decription and heading). Prices vary wildly, often for no obvious reason, so it pays

We have Virgin here too. I have two Beocom 6000's and a Beocom 2 attached to a PSTN base and we haven't had any problems. The filter issue is a red herring as they are only needed dor ADSL Broadband via a BT line. The BB Connection on Virgin is wired separately so the issue doesn't arise. I suggest you try the PSTN unit and phones in another
