I am sure b&o use to publicise the fact these controls were made of some sort of zinc alloy or similar. Not sure that helps though!

Is it possible to delete all phone records in one go or do I have to go through the menu for each number to be deleted?

I think that is the most likely issue Martin. One pin out could mean the lamp is hooked to the supply side of the regulator transistor, and there would be no supply for the sensor arm.

Well could you please hold fire until I get an 8000 as well Adam, as I am sure any positive reviews will only launch prices to the moon Out of interest, is this the same publication that reviewed a Beogram 4000 about 10 years ago?

One thing I have experienced is that after transit the rear lift arm has jumped out of the v section used to raise / lower the arm. Try the following... Remove the lid by first sticking the back of the record player over the edge of a table and open the lid, then locate and slightly LOOSEN the two flat bladed screws that can be found countersunk either

To me MIka the OP is saying his table works, but will not set down (result of the detector arm bulb not working) and the shutter lamp is constantly lit. Now this should not be possible if the deck shuts down after the arm reaches the stop positiion, which is what I was trying to ascertain previously. I cannot think off the top of my head if he has possibly
