You read the instruction manual, that was probably your first mistake! If you use masterlink you must use the ir eye. Alternatively, If you use a Mk2 powerlink between the 3000 and the passive instead, you dont need the ir eye and the powerlink will switch the passive on and sound will come from your passive speakers. Plug the other end of the powerlink

Much of the info you require is here http://www.beoworld.org/faq_view.asp?id=80

Because to print the full serial number in an eBay advert could lead to a scam ownership claim! There are people about who will do anything to make money.

That's rubbish! To many of us here, 15 years is relatively young for B&O equipment! If I were you I would get whatever is needed to get some sound out of the thing and enjoy it. Avoid your local hi fi man as he is talking out of his backside! A decent pair of headphones would be the cheapest option.

No! If only.........!! The eye will only work with ML cable connection of the passive to the Beocenter 2500 via a 1611 Beolink converter. Then the new eye will work.

Yes, for Passive you can read MCL2P or ML/MCL converter. They are all capable of doing the same job with the same wiring as far as I am aware. So this is what you will end up with now. Beocenter 2500 -> Fully wired powerlink -> Passive Passive -> MCL Cable -> MCL2A -> Speaker Cables -> Passive Speakers MCL2A -> Transceiver Cable

I have been pondering this overnight! Mark, exactly how do you propose to wire this system up. I suspect a bit of a mismatch here!!

See http://beotech.beoworld.org/ir_eye_wiring.htm Might give you some clues. You are advised to use the oiginal wire supplied and keep to the original length. Something to do with the impedance I believe.
Graham, what would the differance be between the fully wired powerlink cables (i thought they were only for the display on the pentas and such like) but i will try one (if i can find a spare) and let you know. mark
If you are not using a Mk2, sometimes called a "fully wired" powerlink cable, it absolutely

I don't know about the transceiver but are you using a fully wired powerlink cable????
