Thanks to Frede from the wonderful Classic Audio site , we have a Danish brochure covering the Beomaster 1000 and Beogram 1000. A real treat!

Martin will, I am sure , me along to tell you how to get a capacitor kit. Trim parts are a lot trickier. If the platter bounces, it is not in transport mode - this locks the suspension down. All the manuals are actually on site for these decks. The repairs are actually reasonably straightforward to someone versed in the use of a soldering iron. A local

The panels of course also had a bass rise built into the amplifiers - very cleverly! The panels alone are slightly unsatisfactory unlike the Pentas which have a pretty flat response except for the ultimate bass. However just because Pentas have a flat response in passive mode does not make them better than the 8000s etc. Speakers in this case should

On the Apple/B&O comparison - I think this is valid and I think shows why Apple are successful. I have a number of Apple products ranging from a G4 Powerbook to a MacBook Air and a variety of iPods and other computers. All have been a complete delight to use, have been reliable and on the off occasion when help has been required, the Apple Care

Just to clarify, I used Peerless drivers in my S120 before I knew of Recone (who are not active at present sadly) - given what I know now, I would have had the originals reconed. The Peerless drivers were however very good.

The 70s 2000 is a very good one - excellent amplifier and worthy of good speakers - the inevitable S45-2 comes to mind. The 1700 ( I take it you mean the 80s receiver) is very pretty but the tractor controls break, the clutches slip and the amplifier is indirectly coupled and nothing like as good as the 1500 it replaced.

M100 MS150 S45-2 S120/MC120.2 S75 However remember a lot of B&O systems were desgned as exactly that. Beovox 1200s are pretty average speakers with most systems but work very well with the Beomaster 1200.

They are fine but they need on be on some sort of stand or they sound muddy. They do look modern though. S45-2s are another recommendation - a bit like a VW Golf - they do almost everything anyone could want!
