Hi Jeff The cover does indeed pop off. I opened the unit up and got to the battery, but not without pulling out the ribbon cable from the keypad to the PCB right out of its socket! Then I seemed to knock off a small resistor from the PCB, so by the time I got it back together I ecpected it to be well and truly rogered. Thankfully by some miracle it

I downloaded the service manual (1 side!) but it shows the removal of two screws to release the dock so that the case can be twisted and separated. Problem is on my dock there are two blanks, as opposed to screws, on the dock! There is a small screw inside the SD card slot which I have removed, but the case does not want to rotate with this out, and
Yeah - it's always the same with any high-end product really... for example : if your Rolls-Royce or Bentley (20yr old mind!) needs a new fan belt - they actually take 5 different belts in one 'kit' (all of which ought to be replaced even if ur only needing to change 1!) - buying & fitting by an independent

Just been down to my local dealer to try and get a replacement BS2 battery and can't believe how much B&O want for a replacement. Bearing in mind the BS2 is still in production, how can £67 for a rechargeable battery (that doesn't include fitting) be justified???

Actually the tubes in later years were made by Goldstar who took over the factory from Philips. Even worse ! Just shows that one should judge on the set itself rather than its component parts. On SD broadcasts, the Avant still has the best picture I have seen.
I am not disputing the

I do indeed try and refrain from such a regimented application of garrulous lexica as it becomes difficult to rephrase when teaching secondary school children. However, I have got them to use hyperbole correctly and jingoistic which I am quite pleased about. Next stop verisimilitude
They were talking about B&O on Top gear... you can get it on BBC iPlayer. Again the presenter said it was philips in a pretty box :-(
To be fair to Clarkson he was creaming over B&O later in the segment. Wonder what he has??
