Ideally you could put a multimeter to the output plug on the adapter & see if there's any voltage coming through. Be very careful about just plugging any old laptop adapter into the Mermaid - you could do more damage than just an adapter. Did you get this via eBay? If so and in fact wherever you bought it you should report it to the seller before

Hi Nikola, I think serial numbers beginning with 06 would be 1991. FYI 07 =1992 08 = 93 09 = 94 etc..

Hi Ed, The operational panel is actually glass and identical to the Beosystem 4500. This is a very common problem for both systems and a previous thread HERE explains all. Welcome to Beoworld by the way. Steve

Congratulations Nikola, looks great. Very generous of Llewelyn. Makes me (again) really wish I never sold my white BM3000-2. Stunning it was with it's bright white casing & silver aluminium front & proper switches and would look great in my all white (walls and hard furniture) main room. I do have a spare BM3000-2 stored away that was my
