  • Re: Beosound 5 poll anyone?

Although the AirPort Express is not latency free. The BeoLink Wireless accepts an analogue audio input and beams it across your house with zero audible latency. The Apple system has a good few seconds of latency.

  • Re: Beosound 5 specs

You are correct in that the higher the sample rate, the more susceptible to jitter the system is, although even at 192 kHz (reserved for professional audio only) jitter isn't really an issue, to the extend that a lot of engineers don't bother to synchronize word clocks (which makes jitter impossible). Jitter will never be an issue, and has absolutely

Don't confuse WiFi and BeoLink Wireless - the two are really quite different! In fact the BeoLink Wireless is quite a special little piece of kit. Producing a reliable latency free digital transmission system is no easy feat. The BeoLink Wireless works completely differently to say, iTunes streaming over WiFi.

Agreed! I do hope a higher form of integration is offered with iTunes. Some kind of automatic discrete syncing would be good...

Touch screens are overrated. IMO the wheel functionality is much nicer to use than any touch screen, which will just end up grubby and doesn't provide any tactile feedback. To be honest, built in BeoLink Wireless would just bump the price up further, and most customers won't want the BeoLink Wireless! The N.Radio display thing was something which bugged

It doesn't work on the same frequencies as the B&O remotes sadly!

Stars: I know your frustration mate. Why is there no BeoPlayer for Mac? BeoPlayer is heavily based on the Windows Media platform, which is limited (by Microsoft's own choice) on the Mac platform. Producing a BeoPlayer for Mac would essentially require a complete recode of the application, starting back at square one. BeoPlayer for Mac would be nice

  • Re: BeoSound 5 Display query!!

No, there currently isn't. That doesn't mean there won't be when it's released however - we'll have to just wait and see!

  • Re: BV4 - 50 vs BV4 -65

For SD, 6 times the height of the screen is best, although with HD, you can sit quite a bit closer. For 2.5m, I would say a BeoVision 4-50" is more appropriate, but I wouldn't want to use anything other than a BeoSystem 3, simply due to the way it handles HD...
