It is probably a socket for an external sensor. Some people prefer the 7000 system hidden in a cabinet (I know - don't ask me why!) and this allows you to attach an external sensor.

The music system was a Thompson though!

I stayed here ! Very nice it was too!

I seem to remember that there is a thread about this in the Beogram section. It may well mean that the motor needs servicing. Alternatively some of the speed control circuits could need components replacing. I would favour the first, though check under the deck for any loose control arms.

Graphical display of a good loudness circuit, as enjoyed by Soundproof!

Beobird: I use loudness on the lower volumes and in my opinion it sounds better and I don't care what "audiophiles" say. On higher volumes I prefer to turn it off because it makes the bass a bit boomy and the high tones a bit sharp. A decent Loudness control should switch off at higher volumes. Which system do you have?

VX7000 vs V8000 1. The VX7000 is a much more radical looking device. 2. The V8000 is much more practical as the rewind speed is far faster. 3. I have both - the VX looks much better, but I use the V8000 as it works!! I do however also have a AV9000, which uses a VX7000 internally!

You will need a Beolink 1000 and an external sensor. The sensor is much the same as a MCL sensor but will need wiring to a DIN plug. I would actually make sure the VX5000 works first and then strongly suggest getting a different TV. An LX2502/2802 would give you a far better picture and sound and are practically given away these days. These will stop
