You can get Itunes control with Beoport but just on a MAC. For PC, only Beooplayer is supported. So Beoport would be out. There were some "complete" solutions posted here, one was an entire media PC that would be controllable outside the box with beo 4. There were also some software solutions posted, not sure though if that covered Itunes

You typically do not control the entire PC but just single Applications. This could be itunes for examples, or a media center application. I used IRED/IRTRANS (google IRTRANS for a PC solution) for a while on my Mac, I have to say that even for setting up one of these solutions one should be a bit of a "propellor head". Beoport on a PC can

www.boxee.tv this was mentioned in the mac section here but is really US specific. However it is not platform specific. It can scan your network for movies and find description and trailer for it. It also links up with Netflix and Hulu.com and other content sources. I am running this right now on my Airbook but will install it on my Apple TV next week

@ Mr Andersson ; since you have it, can you please post some pictures and write how you like it with Beosound 5, or did you just get the master. I would also be interested how happy you are with loading content onto it and if it can play gapless, which I consider important for opera, compilations and DJ mixes. Cheers

Das kann sein das Du die Garantie auf den Fernseher verlierst wenn Du es selber einbaust. Wenn Das also nur eine temporaere Loesung ist, wuerde ich des lassen. Gruesse JK

It's not about the necessity for HD, the difference in picture quality between early and latest model (the HD one) is very significant. If you compare the early BV5 and the late Avant the difference will be big and the Avant will win hands down, you probably wouldn't be happy with the upgrade.

I honestly think it would make much sense to save up for a BV7 40 MK3, that seems to be somewhat future proof. If you don't care about connecting Apple TVs, Playstations, XBoxes, Bluerays and other HD friends the BV5 might be a good choice. I certainly adore the design of it, one of the few later "classics" in my opinion. Cheers JK

How did you get the equipment and software to flash to begin with? I would think you will have to bring it back to your dealer. Cheers JK

Habe keine Erfahrung. Ich denke aber das der Beomaster vom Beosound 5 den Beomedia ersetzen wird / ersetzt hat und wuerde danach schauen ausser Du hast den Beomedia schon gekauft. Gruesse JK

I think a Beoport is the simplest solution if you have link rooms. If not, you should be fine with an Airport express or similar device, one that can receive wireless sound from a PC and Itunes. You could also consider getting an Apple TV and maybe an Ipod Touch and use that as a 2 way remote, or, lastly go all the way up to Beosound 5 and Beomaster
