  • Re: Advice on buying a used music system.

I'd second the BeoSystem 6500/7000 approach. They're still 'up-to-date' in most ways and perform very well. As far as speakers go, you can't go too far wrong with a pair of BeoVox S45s - rubber surrounds (so no foam rot, unlike CX100s or Pentas), IMO great looks and they sound very good indeed. You can always run a subwoofer from the PowerLink outputs

  • Re: that

Impossible to compare. The digital outputs will be identical I believe, as long as your music is stored in some lossless form. Not sure about the analogue outputs as there's no way of comparing the two at present...

pedrompinto: Burial - "Archangel" Untrue is one of my favourite albums at the moment. I'm on the John Mayer at the moment - the perfect music after a night out.

  • Re: Beocontrol 5

I see people's frustration at present - I too would like to see a good remote control system which provides feedback in link rooms, and there is no doubt in my mind that B&O will be producing one... at some point. Don't expect it soon however, they've got heck of a lot on their plate at the moment and they're better off focusing on the present products

  • Re: Beocontrol 5

MOTS resides on the BeoMaster 5, as does all of the 'processing' etc... As for making it wireless, I don't see how this could work when DVI (the cable used) requires a bandwidth of 3.96 Gbit/second, and wireless technology still struggles to get up to 0.0054 GBit/second even at close range. DVI/HDMI transmitters are all large, incredibly power hungry

  • Re: Alternative

moxxey: Alex: If B&O had wanted it to be a media server, they would give it full-on video capabilities It's not what B&O want Alex, it's what we want as consumers. I think you find we drive market demand and if the manufacturer can't meet the functionality for this demand, we won't buy their products. The Beosound 5 should be

The number of sites I have seen stating the BeoSound 5 is 'quite ridiculous' a remote control is plain embarrassing. I think these kind of sites in general tend to be highly inaccurate about pretty much everything and anything however.

  • Re: Beosound 5 Hands On Experience?

The trick would be to disconnect the S/P-DIF connection and see if you still get sound out of the PowerLink (although the sound may reach the B&O interface in other ways).

rgbyhkr: Alex: There are plenty of other systems, Sonos being one example. I wouldn't say they're similar to the BeoSound 5 though. The BeoSound 5 isn't a media server/center, it's a hifi. Just wondering how you differentiate the 2 categories? It looks like a media server to me. Jeff If B&O had wanted it to be a media server, they would
