Its a pain alright. Buy an Airport Express and listen iTunes wirelessly, its a lot easier. I re-imported all my CD's into iTunes using mp3 encoding. or use the app SWITCH

On my Avant I can control the Sub levels:- MENU>SETUP>SOUND>ADJUSTMENT - SUBWOOFER (-10 to +10) and speaker MENU>SETUP>SOUND>ADJUSTMENT - BASS (-10 to +10)
