Beomaster 4500 shouldn't have an on board RIAA but this doesn't mean someone hasn't fitted one to it. The symptoms sound like it. Chris.

Does it sound like the edge of the CD catching very slightly on the loading tray? Does it slow down when you go from track 1 to the last track on the CD? Chris.

I do have it somewhere - on a hard drive from a defunct PC which blew up before I backed up the photo's onto a CD. I keep meaning to take the photo's from it but never seem to get round to it...... Chris.

Interesting Are you sure it is from the dampening grease used in the hinge mechanism? This is REALLY sticky stuff & I'm not convinced it could have found its way out of the hinges & into the vents. I've seen plenty of vents (on various B&O components which use this grease) clogged with nicotine which isn't a joy to remove but

I agree with Mika, are you sure it is a Beomaster 5000 you have? If it can be controlled with a Beolink 1000 It sounds like you have a Beomaster 5500. If it IS a Beomaster 5500 then a MCP 5000 won't work with it and will show "no contact". Just to add, you say you have a system 5000 but this doesn't mean the actual Beomaster is a 5000

Here's a photo of a 7 pin DIN plug with pin 6 removed & pin 7 still in place. You can just make out the screw slot on pin 7.
