soundproof: I doubt that B&O calibrated their sound setting indication to the levels of the 5500 when configuring the 7000. There are others here more knowledgeable than me on the topic, but I have owned both systems, and have both a Beomaster 6500 and 7000 now. The 5500 was 2x60W at 8 Ohms; while the 7000 was rated at 2x110W. Which means there

I think it is actually quite useful as it gives you detailed set up instructions for each room as well as option setting instructions. Most rooms will actually be similar after 4 so you don't need to do each room. I don't use it as it only works on a PC but I think it is rather fun!

If it is any consolation, my first foray into B&O started in a similar vein. I had bought a Beomaster 2400-2 which developed a fault with the volume control - it would suddenly, and for no obvious reason , start turning up the volume till it was on full. One attempt to repair it occurred but the problem persisted. At that point my dealer apologised

I would suggest contacting B&O direct. See if they are anymore sympathetic!

Where did it come from? Could it be a cheap copy from China?

Agree. Mine always seemed very quiet as far as noise was concerned and I suspect it actually has a slight bass lift at lower volumes. It has better sound quality than my iPods though is less easy to use. I have never had any problems using USB2 ports though it is slow.

I think you should get a new one! They have tried repairing it and it still does not work. Time to start again.

I would suggest getting the B&O cable as it it has lots of shielding and seems good quality. I am afraid I gave the last of mine away literally yesterday!
