  • Re: Transport AV 9000

If my school boy French is to be believed (!), you want to separate the AV9000 to make it easier to transport. This is certainly possible as the monitor section is held onto the base by two large clips. I'll see if I can find the actual assembly manual - however this is definitely a task suited to two people!! It is heavy!!

  • Re: BEOGRAM 1800 Skip track

Quick extract from the user manual. Is actually a little unsatisfactory as moving the arm requires you simply to push it across in pause mode and it feels stiff rather than smooth.

  • Re: Beosystem 6500 with Beolab 8000 speakers?

Lee at Lifestyle AV is a very good source. He also owns this site! There are other dealers as well who appear on site - Joeyboygolf (Graham ) often has good equipment. The Lifestyle site is also useful to look at prices that are charged.

Definitely go for a Beolink 7000! It is wonderful, especially in the link room where it is like having the system in the room with you. You can get full information regarding all of the system - including the recording level display! - and you have a much greater range of programming options. To link the 6500 into other rooms, you need either X-tra

You want as new as possible. The first ones had a slight tendency to blow drive units and later ones have improved protection circuits. They are supposed to sound better though this is a little debatable. However they are worth looking for. Serial number 16992475 or above!

  • Re: Beogram 4000

Actually the problem with the 4000 is not that it is that fragile, it is more that it is made of very heavy parts! If one of these comes loose, it rattles around and breaks things! One part often forgotten is the control plate which clips in place. This can easily loosen and is a solid plate of aluminium. This can do serious damage. The deck plates

  • Re: I wonder if they sound as good as BL5

I may be wrong, but wasn't the Archimedes project partly done with Kef? And isn't the bass unit in the BL5 a Kef unit?

  • Re: I wonder if they sound as good as BL5

Not my cup of tea! And are these real or a concept? I am sure they could well sound very good - there are a lot of excellent high end speakers - but will not be as easy to set up as 5s. Once you get to this level though, the whole thing becomes more about you and what you want to project about yourself.

  • Re: Connecting BG 3500 to a BS4's A.AUX

You need a 5 pin DIN to 2 RCA cable. Datalink will not be possible as the BS4 doesn't have it!
