The digital output on the dvd1 sends all the channels available. The only way to get for example DD 5.1 from the dvd1 is via the digital connection. Cheers Peter Thanks Peter, do I take it then that full DD 5.1 is decoded within and then output from the DVD 1 and therefore does not require the addition of an external decoder to take the signal from

I am considering the possibility of connecting a DVD1 to my home theatre amp & speaker system. My questions are as follows:- Does the coaxial digital output on the DVD1 output sound only in stereo irrespective of the disc being played? In other words , if the disc being played has 5.1 sound capability will this full output be carried out from this

Presumably then the sequence is:- switch off TV/radio/other by a long press of the red button, replace the Beo5 in its dock, then select lights and press off again for the LC2(s) to switch off? Mmmmmmm and that's progress?

Have to agree with most opinions that it looks good. However, I have reservations about the practical nature of the design. I concede I haven't touched one (yet) but it looks like it's great standing on a table as a piece of art, but what's it like in the hand and in use? Do I therefore assume by this omission that, with the exception of possibly DVD RAM, it plays all the other types? I don't want to buy a recorder which records only to discs that the DVD1 won't play! Thanks in

Like most (all?) only seen the photos of the new Beo5 but one thing strikes me. With my Beo4, whilst viewing to TV or listening to the radio etc; it rests most of the time on the arm of the sofa. Surely with the shape of the base of the Beo5 it would be a delicate balancing act with a strong risk of it falling off!

Thanks Stefan & Chr for your helpful & prompt responses. Much appreciated

Sorry about the spelling in the subject title. The word should be Using!

Would it be possible, or more importantly would it be safe, to use an LC1 or LC2 to switch an amplifier on/off via its mains power lead? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks Keith for the response. I think you are may be correct that a software update may be needed. It's not a great problem, just an inconvenience. I thought there may be a combination of buttons to press on the beo4 which might achieve my objective, but clearly not!
