some helpful forums for a newbie such as yourself are : macrumors ( seems a tad biased towards conjecture rather than plain fact ) not unlike appleinsider macnn ( stay out of the lounge - it's full of idiots ) and apple discussions ( has a habit of having anything vaguely anti apple locked up and deleted )

in future i'd advise you to browse some mac forums like macfixit or macnn , post some queries and then make an informed choice at the apple store online that way you deal with apple direct , cut out the middle man who some of the time simply complicates the situation plus get sueprior service applecare and the apple support line is most helpful

to be fair to simon , some apple stores i've been in have a truly bizarre condescending attitude that i find most annoying ( oxford street store is utterly bonkers ) the so called geniuses at the genius bar have a collective IQ of pond life in my experience and when I asked for a demo of a mac pro , I couldn't get onto a mac as there were 5

i'm banned at macrumors , it's not so much the mods as certain posters there are so lame they report you when you humiliate them in front of everyone the rotten killjoys :) mind you , multimedia got banned from the mac pro forum and nobody can quite figure out why as he was arguably one of the most helpful and intelligent posters on the site
