Any thing other than the original material will have a vast effect on the value. However, with a torn fret, you should not have paid a great deal for them! Personally, I would not entertain anything other than the original so I wouldn't buy them at any price unless I wanted them for spares.

Thanks Nick, all seems to be OK at present. I'm sure you could find your marbles if required!! 4 days seems a long time for the training course although Tim does indicate that they are "thoroughly unreliable" so it was probably time well spent.

The fact that the cd is spinning would indicate that your issue is something other than the normal capacitor(s).

I would get it repaired by Axel and retain the easy to listen to MMC2 sound. The soundsmith sound is very good on initial hearing but does get a bit harsh on extended listening. Just my opinion (revised)!

Sorted!! Thanks once again to that genius who is TJ. Apparently, the new drive belt on the arm servo motor is too tight. Replaced it with the old belt and problem gone!!! ***edit*** Further investigation has revealed that the problem was lack of lubrication. The old belt was too stretched to drive the threaded shaft on a consistant basis. I have cleaned

Most B&O items were supplied with the two pin plug and stacking systems were supplied with the 4 way EU extension lead. You can get converters to fit on the two pin plug to convert them to UK 3 pin type. http://www.powerconnections.co.uk/convert_eurotouk.htm
