Welcome to beoworld! To be honest I think you would be happy with any of these. You might want to consider the size as some of the speakers from this era are quite big. You should check out www.beocentral.com as they tend to be more opinionated than the product info here! None of them should be all that expensive (maybe £30-80) depending on condition

I have wondered about this too. Any older Avant that has a blown tube is probably headed toward a skip as the tube would cost so much more than the TV would be worth, but the Audio system must be worth saving. Hopefully someone more expert than me will be along in a minute! Simon

I am not a regular tape user any more, but I always found that recording with Dolby B on and playing back with it off worked best for me. Simon

Peter and Lee, there's a double act that rolls back the years..... Simon Keith Saunders: Dear Lee, Fellow Moderators and Beoworld Members, I am very flattered by your vote and I thank you all. As Andy says the " Square Donut Theory " has its place, even in the world of solving B&O issues. I also wish to offer my congratulations to

Its hard to pick three but I have gone for: Ziggy Stardust Suffragette City Changes Simon

I think the price this went for isn't toofar off the mark. Quite glad I didn't see it at the time or I may have bought a system I didn't really need! Looks like it was a decent deal Simon

The LX-series TVs are stunning value too at the moment, you can't go too far wrong at £60 for a high quality 28" TV. On reason the CRT TV's are going for such low prices at the moment is the finite lifespan. If you buy a set of Beolab speakers at the moment it is a fair bet that you will have a working, usable, saleable set of speakers
