A little bit of history here. Stereo doesn't mean "two speakers" - it derives from stereophonic, "solid sound." Blumlein, who invented the principle and applied the required technology, in his patent actually specifies the possible use of multiple recording units and a multitude of speakers. He was of the belief that at least

Great accomplishments lead to appreciation by connoisseurs. Sham accomplishments can trick even experts for a while, but usually stand revealed, in the end. B&O has, for decades, delivered a series of great accomplishments, and did therefore achieve appreciation by the most discerning of customers -- but then the brand began coasting on its reputation

B&O create functional sculptures that produce sound and images. Most B&O "objets d'art" complement the surroundings they are placed in, and then deliver aural and visual pleasure, often in ways that show B&O aren't afraid of challenging conventions. Active monitors are now being embraced by audiophiles, but B&O has

Pretty certain you're right, KingOfSnake. The Dolby Digital surround processing takes place independent of the digital OUT chain, and the analog processed signal to speakers is sent over PL. It's very rare to have processors where part of the signal is handled through s/pdif and the rest through analog. When I watch movies, I switch off the
Hi soundproof, just wondered whether your neighbours have complained a lot in the past??
No, I've been most fortunate. I have quite understanding neighbors, and then I also time my bass-excesses for when they're not in. I think that with weapons grade speakers such as BL5s, one should show courtesy.

You can control subwoofer volume by applying "night listening" modes, where the bass is suppressed. I do that, when I know the neighbours are home and I will be playing something that has a lot of bass pulses. You can either apply Dynamic Range Compression, or various kinds of night listening settings.

I'm sure there's a market in audiophile windmills, with accumulator batteries, for all-DC systems. Hmmm --
Although we'd notice you weren't a true audiophile as you're using the out-of-the-box mains cables
Because electricity travels for hundreds and thousands of kilometers along a variety of cables, but is completely dependent upon the composition of the final 1.5m of cable. I'm in a room like that

A 5x8m room is hardly too small for BL5s, Moxxey - but I will agree that these are speakers that should be given priority for you to get the best possible sound out of them. I have a 4,3Wx3,3Hx7L room, it's dedicated A/V room, with the furniture directed towards the listening position. The speakers are out on the floor, about 1,6m from the front

It could be just a rumble or other interference that stopped the calibration from being completed. Worth checking out - and yes, taking a BL5 "apart" is a task. I've had the skirt off to look at the innards.
