I only found one fuse? It was fine and the power supply gets warm. There seems to be blackened components on the top board...I'm guessing thats where the problem is. I'm hoping the insurance will pay for all the replacements but it will be quite a mission to replace the Beomaster.
The top board is the

Sorry to hear this has happened. The problem with lightning is that the damage is never the same. So it could be a small repair but is could also be a big problem. Have you already checked the fuses? Are there any burned tracks on the PCB's?

For some products there is an IR code for opening and closing, but it was never introduced. With Beo5 the function can be programmed, but I don't know if this works for BV7. On the other hand I don't understand the reason for opening the disc tray by remote, you always have to walk to the player to change the disc anyway. So why not push the

These also can cause problems. Together with replacing some bad capacitors this will almost surely solve the

I have had a problem with BeoLab Penta which did not switch on. When I started measuring on the front PCB things even got more weird, all the voltages I measured were wrong. After some investigation it turned out that the solderings of the connector from the main PCB the front PCB were bad. After resoldering them the problem was fixed!
The Avant was better.
The Avant was not a Jacob Jensen design.......

You should connect it to the AV-connection named VTAPE (Scart-connector on the most left side seen from the rear of the Avant). In the menu you should also name this connection VTAPE. I would not use the AV-socket for V-tape since there is no tuner-dump on this connection.

A BeoCenter 9000. First thing to do is getting the processorboard up and running and after that see what else is wrong......
